Polmont Playgroup is a registered charity and run on a non-profit basis by a Management Committee therefore require a new parent committee each year to continue to operate. The committee only meet 4 times per year and allows you to have a say in how the playgroup is run as well as brainstorming on fundraising ideas. The Playleaders also sit on the committee as non-voting committee members.
A new committee must be elected each year at the A.G.M. from which Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer must be selected. Other council members may be voted on to the committee as non-office-bearers.
2024/25
Chairperson - Louise Smith
Secretary - Emma McGuire
Treasurer - Lia Jarvis
The committee is responsible for the general running of the playgroup controlling finances, hiring, premises/rent, engaging staff and providing equipment. Without a committee we could not legally operate and we would be forced to close. You are therefore encouraged to seriously consider volunteering to sit on the committee for at least 1 year while your child is at playgroup. Even if you do not want to take on a role within the committee attendance at the meetings is encouraged. This allows you an opportunity to understand the working of the playgroup and to input into the running of the playgroup.
We are not subsidised by the council so all fees go towards running costs such as wages. On occasions the committee will organize fundraising events to buy new equipment/materials or to meet events such as end of term parties. Please support any such activities as it is for the benefit of your child.
If you work for a company/organisation who offers community funding or match funding, we would LOVE to have your support. Let us know at polmontplaygroupcommittee@gmail.com
